Electronic music lovers can transfer their affections to the Spanish desert next month for what is being billed as “The Biggest Party Of The Year”. Underworld and Public Enemy are among the big names set to perform at this year's Monegros Desert Festival. The festival's 19th edition on Saturday July 20 is expected to attract 40,000 fans of electronic music of all styles.

It is easy to get to, with Madrid and Barcelona airports the best options for travellers flying from London or South-East airports. The 22-hour festival is situated in the province of Huesca between these two cities and both provide buses to the festival venue. Non-stop music, which is simultaneously played on five stages, alternates between Electro, Techno, Hip Hop, Drum & Bass and Dubstep. The event, now a major player on the Latino festival circuit, is blossoming from its origins as an underground affair organised by a group of friends.

Today there is much to offer for fans of all sorts of sounds. It has been described as the biggest electronic music festival and the biggest rave in Spain. But, whatever you call it, holidaymakers will be particularly impressed by the special fireworks display on Sunday (July 21), which closes the festival each year.
