Prime Minister David Cameron and his family returned to Stansted Airportt on Monday after their half-term holiday.

The Cameron family flew with a low-cost airline after their break in Ibiza, marking a stark contrast to US President Barack Obama's high-profile arrival at the airport a fortnight ago on Air Force One.

During their break Mrs Cameron, 40, was seen at a party featuring dance DJ Pete Tong on the island after flying out with daughter Florence. Mr Cameron and their two other elder children, Arthur and Nancy, joined them the following day and the family enjoyed time together on the beach.

Although the Prime Minister and his wife travelled in standard class on flight 3046, which arrived at Stansted at 2.50pm, airline staff honoured their special guest by giving the plane a personalised number plate ending in DC.

Typical tickets for Mr Cameron's flight cost around £100 return, but the PM paid an extra £8 for speedy boarding.

It was the second Spanish holiday in two months for David and Samantha Cameron, who also opted to keep costs down by opting for a cheaper alternative when they flew with a budget airline to Granada in early April, although without their children on that occasion.
