Useful Information for Düsseldorf and Munich Airport
Start your journey in Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf is a city on the River Rhine in western Germany and is the capital city of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is one of the economic centres of the country, and a major city within the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan area, with a population of almost 600,000. While Frankfurt is the German hub for financial services and many other German cities excel in various branches of industry, Düsseldorf has the highest concentration of professional services, creative industries and media, and is regarded as the German capital of fashion. Düsseldorf also hosts a large number of German or European head offices of Japanese companies, and has a considerable Japanese population, forming over 1% of the city's population. The city is famous for its nightlife, carnival, events, shopping and for fashion and trade fairs like the Boot Messe (trade fair for boats and watersports) and Igedo (fashion fair). Every year, more than 4 million people visit the Kirmes fun fair which runs for 10 days in the summer.
Starting in Düsseldorf, you can be in Munich Airport in just 8 h 45 min with Blablabus. Book today from just £18.50 with easyBus.com.. Munich's Franz Josef Strauß Airport (MUC IATA) (German: Flughafen München Franz Josef Strauß) is the primary international airport serving Munich. It is the second busiest airport in Germany, and Lufthansa's second hub. The airport opened in 1992 with a long term plan for potential future expansion and is thus more consistent and logical than Frankfurt Airport which had to deal with imperfect existing decades old infrastructure in every expansion or the unmitigated mess that are Berlin airports. The downside is its out of the way location not helped by its mediocre rail access. It is about 40 km by road from downtown Munich and has no high-speed train service, only commuter S-Bahn trains which take 50 minutes to get downtown. In addition to that you'll usually have to "double back" via Munich when arriving by train from the north, despite some regional trains from Regensburg now somewhat mitigating the situation on some routes.
